Our first project was to plant 50 various gum trees on one of our private blocks which will contribute to the Koala corridor. This small project was a great experience for us all as we are all new to Landcare and working as a group.
Main task was to pull up by hand small and large weeds, and gaining access to planting areas by cutting a path through long grasses. Mission accomplished by all and we had a successful morning.
Second phase to this project was to prepare 50 holes for our seedlings. We tried to use existing holes where the larger weeds had come out of and also dug new holes. On the day our groups consisted of hole diggers, planters, composters, and a person who did all the tree guarding and marking out of new trees.
Our timing was perfect as we had a weekend where we had rain just prior to our planting and rain after, this all makes for a very successful project. Thanks to all our team.
